With just over a month until the start of the 2010 World Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro, New Zealand, Canada has selected a talented squad of nine boats with plenty of medal prospects.
Using a time trial system to select the final team, Rowing Canada Aviron high performance director, Peter Cookson said, “This is a high-quality group of athletes and we're looking forward to an exciting Worlds for Canada."
Top medal contender for Canada is likely to be their women’s eight. The eight finished second at the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland, and coach Al Morrow has tweaked the crew making two changes. The women’s pair has also been impacted by change since Lucerne with two-time Olympian Andreanne Morin coming back from a post-Olympic break and earning a spot with Krista Guloien. This pair will also race in the eight.
